My problem is I did "make it." I've been writing online for almost 20 years, and at one point, I was well-known. I went viral, had content featured by MSNBC, the works. But it was too much. I came to Medium to write the way I want to write.

I have been guilty of everything you highlight in your piece. I thought my previous fame would carry over, forgetting that the internet has the attention span of a goldfish. I still have to remind myself that I write on Medium because I love to write, not to get back to a place where I was "famous" but miserable.

Thank you for helping me remember why I write on Medium.
