When I was a kid, my mom bought me a coloring book from the Museum of Man in San Diego. One of the pages was a man named Edo visiting his best friend, a camel. My mom changed the spelling to Camil, and she called me that for the majority of my adult life. I called her Edo.

Thank you for a lovely and thought-provoking essay. I hadn't thought about Camil and Edo in a long time.
